During my digital skills × hand skills experiment on CMF, I had the opportunity to present some of my findings to members of NISSHA Design ＆ CMF and receive their feedback. As a result of this connection, they agreed to display the results of our joint experiment alongside my experimental results.

NISSHA Design ＆ CMF's experiment was to recreate my results in a flat CMF format. They transformed complex, three-dimensional CMF into a flat format using their expertise in printing technology. It was also intriguing that they expressed it using only various shades of white.

The results included CMF that appeared three-dimensional despite being flat prints, as well as unique and beautiful patterns.

Through discussions based on these results, we gained insight into creating new expressions by moving back and forth between three-dimensional and flat formats.

It was interesting to share our experiment's 'back and forth' between manual and digital work.

CMF design is the design of contact points when people touch objects, and the design of the skin that helps people recognize what an object is. CMF design establishes diverse relationships when we build connections with objects.

This meaningful collaboration enabled us to feel the potential of such possibilities.

CMFに関する Digital skill × Hand skillの実験中、その結果の幾つかをNISSHA Design ＆ CMFの方々と共有し、フィードバックを頂く機会を得た。そこからの繋がりで、私の実験結果を展示する際に彼らと共同で実験した結果も展示して頂くことになった。

NISSHA Design ＆ CMFが実験をしたのは、我々の実験結果を平面のCMFとして再構築する事。

彼らが得意とする印刷技術を使い、複雑で立体的なCMFを平面に落とし込んだ。

また、様々な白色だけでそれを表現するという点も興味深い。

実験結果は、平面の印刷なのに立体的な見え方をするCMFがあり、模様としてユニークで美しいものもある。

結果を元にディスカッションをする中で、立体と平面を行き来する中で生まれる新しい表現の実験としての知見を得られた。

手仕事とデジタルワークを行き来する我々の実験と”行き来”を共有できたのも面白い。

CMFデザインは、人が物に触れる時の接点のデザインであり、人がその物が何であるのかを認知するための表皮のデザインだと思う。

そこには、我々が物と関係性を構築する際に CMFのおかげで成り立つ関係が多様にある。

そんな可能性を沢山感じられる、意義あるコラボレーションだった。
