Transparent polystyrene cups are often used for disposables.

If you heat and deform a polystyrene cup, the long shape shrinks down by one-third.

As I try many different ways of heating and deforming, it turned out to be a cup with an exceptional Wabi atmosphere. 

Wabi is a unique aesthetic generated from an incomplete thing that the Japanese have loved. 

I happened to find such an aesthetic in this work and I am happy to appreciate the form. 

使い捨てを前提で使われることの多い、ポリスチレンの透明カップ。

熱を加えて変形させてみると、スッと伸びていたカップが 1/3ほどに縮む。

色々な熱のかけ方と変形のさせ方を試してみる内に、妙に侘びた雰囲気を持つお椀ができた。

日本人が愛した、未完の姿が持つ独特の美意識。

こんな所でも感じられ、形を愛でられることを嬉しく思う。
