I invited Professors Cheryl Akner Koler and Anna Maria Orru to my university for a one-month stay, who have always been very helpful to me during my stay at Konstfack.

During their stay, we worked together to create classes on Cheryl's specialty, haptics, and Anna Maria's specialty, biomimicry, which we offered to KUA students.

We also held workshops for faculty members, where we shared the interesting aspects and significance of their research.

In the biomimicry class, we held a workshop themed around bees after an introductory workshop.

Students learned how non-human organisms coexist with the Earth's environment, how many things we should model after these organisms, and how to use that as a guide to create tools and art.

In the haptics class,  we held a workshop themed on Kyoto culture and haptics after an introductory workshop.  

Students learned that we have sensitive haptic sensors and that there is information that can only be obtained through haptics. They also learned how that information can be used to create expressions and functions that directly affect our lives, and how that information can be used to make contexts that create expressions and functions touching our hearts.

Both the classes for students and the workshop for faculty members went well, and we got good feedback.

I worked with Cheryl and Anna Maria from the beginning of the class planning, which helped me understand their research more deeply and learn how to create classes. It was a great experience. Their genuine approach to research and students as both researchers and educators was a great model for me.

I am truly grateful to Cheryl and Anna Maria.

Konstfackに滞在した際に私がいつもお世話になっている、教授の Cheryl Akner Koler と Anna Maria Orruを弊学に招き、１か月滞在して頂きました。

滞在期間中は、Cherylの専門分野であるHapticsの授業と、Anna Mariaの専門分野であるBio mimicryの授業を共に作り、KUAの学生に提供しました。

また、二人と共に教職員向けのワークショップも開催し、それぞれの研究の面白さと意義を共有できました。

Bio mimicryの授業では、導入のWSの後にミツバチをテーマにワークショップを実施。

我々が、人間以外の生物が地球の環境と共生すべく生きているかを知り、その生物たちを模範とすべき点がいかに多いかを知り、それを道具や芸術を生み出す道標にする術を学んでもらいました。

Hapticsの授業では、導入のWSの後に京都の文化と触覚をテーマにしたワークショップを実施。

我々が繊細な触覚のセンサーを持っていて、触覚からのみ得る事ができる情報あることを学びました。そして、その情報を元に我々の暮らしへ直接影響を与える表現と機能や、その情報を基に文脈を作って我々の心に触れる表現と機能が生まれることを学んでもらいました。

授業も教職員向けのWSも好評を得られ、良いフィードバックをもらえました。

CherylとAnna Mariaとは授業計画から協業できたため、二人の研究のポイントを今までよりも深く知ることができましたし、授業の作り方も学ばせてもらえたことが 本当に良い経験になりました。二人の研究者・教員として 真摯に研究と学生に向き合う姿は、改めて私の模範となる姿でした。
